Toronto & Back to Saba

Image
A continuation of my travels post-New York… I flew North to Toronto to meet up with Allie and Steph for a girls weekend before heading back to Saba. When I finally arrived after being cancelled, rebooked, and delayed several times, the girls had an amazing weekend of activities planned. We had breakfast at Cora’s, went to visit a castle, and had supper at O’Noir – a restaurant where you eat in complete darkness and a blind waiter serves you. It was such a unique experience and I would recommend it to anyone in the Toronto (or Montreal) area. It was great just to relax in the hotel room and drink wine and eat snacks and catch up with the girls. I got to hear the updates of Steph’s road to grad school and Allie’s new job with the police force. I hope we can do it again soon. My flights back to Saba and the ferry I ended up taking were a nightmare but I made it back in one piece. Fourth semester has shorter days (8-3) and only 3 classes to focus on so hopefully it wil

NYE in NYC

The holiday season in New York and the city in general are incredible. When arrived on New Year's Eve, we didn't have much planned so we decided to go exploring. We walked passed the flatiron building and the Empire State Building which was all lit up in colour. Our first stop? Macy's! The Christmas window displays were amazing and the store was chaos. The Chrysler Building next door was also beautiful and a must-see in the city. We actually stumbled upon quite a few things, for example, the Winter Village in Bryant Park. We followed our noses to lots of little shops which led us to a large Christmas tree, the skating rink there, and then... The Ball!! I was surprised we could actually see it without being ins

Home for the Holidays

Happy Holidays! I had 18 glorious days in Nova Scotia where we did lots of winter activities including the Barra MacNeils Christmas show, skiing, family game night, and lots of Christmas shopping. We got snowed for days at a time but we spent those days wrapping and having holiday drinks at home.  I fell in love with the most perfect little man, Camden AuCoin. He is the son of my beautiful friend Laura but I stress that we have the same last name because it makes me feel like an honorary aunt. This break was a little longer than most so I was able to have some long overdue catch ups with friends and family. Although I'd like to think my cooking and baking skills are improving, nothing beats Mom's weekend breakfasts or having lobster at Dad's. As with every holiday season, there was a lot of food involved overall. Every day. It is going to take about 3 years on the elliptical just to burn off all the squares I ate. Tis the season, right? I spent a few days in th
